USCIS Announces New H-1B Registration Period for March 1 – March 18, 2022

USCIS announced that the next initial registration period for H-1B petitions will open at noon (ET) on March 1 and run through noon (ET) on March 18.  The selection process will be a random selection as in the past.  Those petitions selected in the process are expected to be notified March 31st.  Those selected will then file the complete petition and supporting evidence immediately thereafter.

Participation in this registration process is required in order to be eligible for the random selection process.  Anyone who is applying for their first H-1B, or is otherwise subject to the cap, who is not properly registered will not be able to petition for an H-1B for the next U.S. fiscal year, beginning October 1, 2022.  Petitions for those selected generally need to be filed in  April to be eligible to start work October 1.

The registration process is electronic and requires a fair amount of detail that may not then be able to be changed later.  If you are contemplating filing an H-1B petition, contact Barbara Marcouiller for assistance as soon as is practicable to have the case prepared to submit as close to March 1st as possible.
