It’s a Frenzy: PRK Livengood is Helping Raise Money to End Hunger in Western Washington through Food Lifeline’s Food Frenzy Competition!
For many of us, the summer months mean enjoying nicer weather, taking time off, and going on vacations with our friends and family. But for many Americans, summer can be the hungriest time of year. When schools close, children can no longer access free and reduced breakfasts and lunches. On average, families spend $300 more a month on groceries when free breakfast and lunch aren’t available during the summer break, forcing some families to turn to their neighborhood food pantries and local meal programs to keep food on the table.
This year, PRK Livengood has once again joined forces with many companies throughout the Puget Sound to participate in Food Lifeline’s Food Frenzy, an event that helps raise money and awareness about food insecurity through fun competition. Over the next two weeks, through a variety of fun activities, we will help raise valuable funds needed to stock the shelves of local food pantries and summer meal sites across Western Washington. Last year, the competition raised $620,000!
“PRK Livengood has participated in Food Lifeline’s summer Food Frenzy for many, many years. Food Lifeline has such a deep commitment to mitigating food insecurity for those who are affected. Its approach helps impart dignity to those affected by not just providing food, but by sourcing foods that are widely used by the various cultures it is serving.” –Wendy Allard, Food Lifeline Board Member
