Michael Callan is a trial lawyer. He has over 30 years of private practice spanning multiple industry sectors throughout the Pacific Northwest. Mike’s practice focuses on complex disputes involving business/corporate matters, employment, trade secrets, non-competes, commercial real estate, serious injury, and insurance defense assignments.

Advice, Counsel, and Litigation

Mike draws on his varied experience to find unique solutions to his clients’ concerns. Mike provides a customer-centric approach to finding appropriate solutions that advance his client’s business goals, whether that be through early negotiation and resolution of claims or an aggressive pursuit of matters through trial. Mike utilizes all of the tools available for clients to make the best decisions possible for their unique matter including early negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal.

Business and Real Estate

In his business and real estate practice, Mike represents business and property owners, brokers, developers, contractors, builders, subcontractors, and others in the construction and real estate industries. In addition to drafting and negotiating agreements, he also represents clients in disputes concerning performance, easement and boundary issues, liens, construction defects, payment and collection matters, and commercial evictions. His real estate clients commonly include builders, developers, commercial property owners and management companies, brokers, and residential property owners.

Employment Matters

Mike’s employment practice relates to almost every facet of the employment relationship, advising clients and resolving issues such as hiring, firing, employment agreements, confidentiality and trade secrets matters, compensation, and discrimination claims.

Serious Personal Injury and Wrongful Death

Mike represents plaintiffs in personal injury matters who have suffered serious or catastrophic injuries, including amputation, head trauma (such as traumatic brain injury or ‘TBI”), paralysis, burns, or other injuries that have a substantial and long-term impact on a victim. He also represents families who have lost a loved one due to the negligence or wrongful acts of others.  Mike is tenacious in injury and wrongful death matters in seeking to obtain full compensation, including pain and suffering, lost wages, and compensation for emotional damages.

Mediation and Arbitration

As a former pro tem judge Mike utilizes his skills as a neutral decision maker in serving as a mediator and arbitrator in helping third parties resolve a wide range of commercial and employment-based disputes.

Background and Personal

Mike is a former prosecutor and has been a member of the East King County Judicial Evaluation Committee, a Trustee of the King County Bar Association, and he has also served as a pro tem judge. He is a UCLA soccer alumnus and an admitted water sports junkie. When not in the office he can usually be found waterskiing or wake surfing with his family on Lake Sammamish. He is also the co-owner of Callan Cellars winery where his wife Lisa is the winemaker for award winning northwest wines.
